The Story of Schoolhouse

 

 

      Just down the road from our family home, there once was a wide green pasture where the mossy, worn cornerstone of old one-room schoolhouse still lies hidden among the long grass. A neighbor once shared that this was his schoolhouse as a young boy. On quiet walks through this pasture, you can almost hear the musical laughter of the children and imagine simpler school days.

      Wouldn't it be reassuring to know, that those days are still inside of every child and every teacher? We can help you, your teachers, your students, and your parents to experience the simplicity and dignity of truly inclusive learning our neighbor once knew in that one-room schoolhouse.

Schoolhouse Educational & Therapeutic Services was founded in 2021 by owners Mari-Briege Nalette, CCC-SLP, and Kelly Moore Dunn, Ed.D. After many years of individual consulting experience, they combined their efforts and resources to form Schoolhouse, bringing together a team of highly qualified consultants. This collaboration was designed to better support schools as they respond to the increasing diversity of student learning needs.

 

Schoolhouse’s team of educational consultants brings extensive experience from private practice as well as roles in educational leadership, assessment, PreK–12 schools, and higher education. Their expertise spans new teacher development, early childhood education, literacy and reading disabilities, and the identification and support of behavioral, speech, language, learning, and developmental differences. Collectively, their work centers on helping educators cultivate classroom cultures grounded in dignity and respect for every student, while revisiting and applying the enduring principles that contributed to the success of the traditional one-room schoolhouse.
