Schoolhouse Education and Therapeutic Services invites you to the Diocese of Manchester New Teacher  Induction Seminar Live Video Series! In this series of monthly Zoom sessions, we'd like to welcome all new and second-year Catholic educators to this blessed vocation and help make your first year of teaching in the Diocese of Manchester feel and be effective, focused, balanced, and joyful. 

Professional Development Hours

In your first year, you'll meet with Dr. Kelly Dunn to establish

a professional development plan for continuous learning and a Diocese of Manchester certificate or state licensure. Those already credentialed can use these hours toward recertification. Contact Dr. Dunn at kmdunn@schoolhouseservices.org.

Discussion Topics
  • The vocation of the Catholic school educator

  • Accessing Diocesan standards, curriculum, and materials

  • Shaping classroom physical, social, and procedural aspects to maximize instructional time

  • Planning and implementing engaging, clear, and well-structured lessons 

  • Organizational strategies to keep on top of paperwork, meetings, and planning

  • Achieving balance in family, work, and health

  • Building positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues

  • Best practices in formative and summative assessment 

  • Simple ways to support a variety of student needs through Universal Design for Learning

  • Establishing healthy parent/guardian partnerships

  • Problem-solving challenging situations and conversations

Video Meeting Schedule

These meetings are: the 3rd Wednesday every month Meeting Schedule: 3:30-4:30, 3rd Wednesday of each month, beginning on September 17 and ending on May 20.  Depending on interest, she may also offer an additional, more casual, confidential session each month for any new educator to share specific situations, seek advice, or just talk.
